Résumé

So, Here I am...
by Mark Curtis Filstrup
October 29, 1995

So the deal is: I graduated from Columbia University in the City of New York in May. Spent the last four years studying Architecture and learning random Columbia/NY Trivia.

After graduation, I went to Asia for a brief stint in Singapore. I stayed with a cool family called the Lims-the daughter, Joyce, was a fly stewardess for Singapore Airlines and the son, Max, was studying to be an architect). I had a decent time with them and even got to go on the world's only Night Safari at the Singapore Zoo. After two months, I decided it was time to come back to the States so I packed my bags and flew standby all of the way home to Pittsburgh. The point being, I used to call Singapore a lot to talk to Joyce, but I don't anymore cause she likes some guy who works for MTV more than me :( I was really sad for a while, but now I think my phone company, Sprint, is even more bummed than me.

After that I lived at home for a while and produced the latest Kingsmen album, Lunchbox, looking for jobs, cleaning out my closet, and trying to get my life together. After much deliberation, I decided to give up on the architecture thing in order to persue a life in advertising. I also decided that I needed to get back to New York.

So, I managed to get an interview with Ogilvy & Mather. Though they dissed me, the weekend visit to "the City that never sleeps" turned into a month-long job at CBS. I worked on a cool project involving the photographic archives for the Ed Sullivan Show for a new Midtown theme retaurant with $14 hamburgers and scored a nifty T-shirt for their new show Central Park West-I tried watching the show once, but got confused; I thought Victoria Secret was running an hour long infomercial on Wednesday Prime-Time! Anyway, if they really have that much fun on CPW, I need to pick up my apartment and move it over three blocks!

After CBS, I headed back up to Columbia to attempt a living by designing home pages for the Law Faculty on the Web. Two weeks later, I met a guy named Seth Goldstein at the West End Gate, a big Columbia bar, after the Lions beat Yale at the big homecoming game. He offered me a chance to prove my talents at SiteSpecific.

So here I am. It's been pretty swell so far. In fact, I even got to go on a business trip to Nashville to produce the first ever "triple-cybercast" of the Vince Gill Concert. In my freetime, I tried starting a new a cappella group, The Flatiron5 with some old buds. I've also been doing some crazy apartment hunting with my roommate Welly. 6 weeks and 20 brokers later, we finally found a new place, which is good cause I'm sick of sleeping on the floor!

Well, that's all for now folks. If you would like to explore companionship in the city with a witty adventurer, have a beautiful apartment that you need to give up for rent, or if you'd simply like to comment on the format and content of Marcus Page, then PLEASE contact me via mark@filstrup.com
