Mark and I hooked up Tues night... here's the rundown:
First stop was "21" where we had a few smoothies before heading out for
dinner at Lupa. Oxtail was on the money!! Mario was at the bar and greeted
us as we waited for our table in the front window. After dinner headed over
to The Apartment. Two Baldwin brothers were being turned away at the door!
Mark had called ahead (of course) and we shuttled past, playing it oh-so
cool. Inside, Jessica Lange and Sam Shepard were playing kissy-face right
next to us. George Stephanopolous was there with his new fiance' Alex
Wentworth, who happens to be a friend of Paulina... so, it gave me an "in"
to strike up conversation. He went off about Cokie Roberts -- I was thinking
of you the whole time! From there, we decided one more nightcap was in order
and walked over to Johnny's. Keifer Sutherland was there with some asshole
friends. He was chatting up the bartender. My name was on the slate thanks
to Greg Smalley and Filstup butted-in on Sutherland to get the bartender to
pour us some beers... I thought he was gonna get his ass kicked there for a
moment. Cut to 15 minutes later with all of us singing Gimme Shelter
together... thanks to yours truly running the Juke!

Hey Steven,
Remember the time you, me, and Michelle got our photo in the Times for
grabbing a smoothie at Lot 61? Check it out. Adam and I finally got
together on Tuesday for a night on the town (and what a night it was). We
started out at 21. (Sorry about that. We should go again next week when
you're in town.)
During dinner, I called the Apartment to see if we could get in. I can't
believe they took us. It was a total scene: George Stephanopolis with some
hotty, Sam Shepard, and Jessica Lange were all chilling out. The best
part is that some photographer from New York Magazine was there doing a
piece on celeb hangouts. I swear they got a shot of Adam talking to
George's honey. Maybe I'll get my knee in print again.
Afterwards we went to that place where we took Nancy for her goodbye.
While Adam was picking some tunes, I almost got into a fight with Keifer
Sutherland! When the Stones came on and the Bass came out, it was all
good. He ended up buying our round.
I can't believe you missed the most quintessential smoothie night! Don't
be too mad, I should be recovered enough by next week to do it again when
you're in town. Let me know when you're coming.
-Mark

Well guess what smart guy, I'm in town today! And I'm ready to drink! You
guys must have coordinated or something, cause i just got an email from Adam
telling me all about it...
Well, if I wasn't able to be there, atleast i know i was there in spirit
because you went to all my favorite haunts baby!
21, Lupa (for the record i went there before Adam, even though he lives
around the corner), the apartment (our weeknight excursion paid off a few
months ago, heh?) and of course Johnnies, which I've been going to since
'94. Adam has been with me several times and he knows how much I love to
take over the juke!
The only thing i wish i saw was George Steph. (i've only seen him once - in
DC).
Drinks at 21: $80
Dinner at Lupa: $100
Drinks at the Apartment: $60
Watching you almost get your ass kicked by Kiefer: PRICELESS
and you may end up the NY mag - hilarious!
I'll be in touch!
